Ashlee and Russ asked if they could spend a day or two with us on their way home from Utah. Obviously, we jumped at the chance. I'm ever so glad that we did because one day on the river turned into two.
Randy told me he'd like to find a beach along the river, but I argued that we'd want the shaded table and nearby bathroom, so we'd probably better go to the place we already know and love. Upon arriving we found they'd taken the docks! Turns out, Randy left half of us on the shore while he and Russ scouted out a beach along the river like he'd wanted all along. I'm so glad we did because it produced the best time we've EVER had on the river!
We weren't prepared with a shade since we thought we'd be at our table, but the sandy river bottom that extended far and wide made up for it. We never had to worry about Aria or Everly walking out too far because it never really dropped off until they were much too far. Jamie let us borrow one of their kayaks and child paddle boards, so we had plenty to occupy those left on the beach while the others were on the boat. We played for more hours than we'd planned for, and then made plans to do it again, better prepared, the next day. SO MUCH FUN!!!
Enjoying their lunch.
Brennon ended up getting stung by a wasp. Poor kid. Shelby took a picture of it to show him because it was on his back. He said it stung for a long time, to which Daphnee agreed because she'd been stung the day before. The
only thing that detracted from our two days of fun.
Aria and I made a sandcastle. Aria being Aria-- she asked me more than once if I would and then spent maybe three minutes helping me. I had to giggle. Caden used to giggle at her antics, too. She is so excited to have someone do something with her, she then realizes she wants to do it
all with you:)
As we were drying off the boat, Randy mentioned that he'd noticed a lot of oils in the water when he was loading everything up. Turns out, our boat was hemorrhaging. Sad that our two days could not turn into three days...
The sunset struck me so beautiful. We live in such a beautiful place. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.
As we pulled up to drop off Jamie's river toys, the guy across the street alerted us to a serious problem-- our trim was down. Had we hit a large bump or gone over a speed hump, we would have scraped our rudder along the road, possibly causing some serious damage. Honestly, I don't know how we made it the entire 40 minutes! Our hemorrhage had drained all of the hydraulic fluid, our trim couldn't be lifted without help. Not to worry, Randy always has straps in our car for emergencies. Our boat will be out of commission for a few weeks, at which time I plan to invite many to our spot. I love our boat!
