Sunset Gardens

We spent Monday much the same way we spent Saturday-- Bateman Island for some fun in the river, then our pool to meet up with friends.  Since the cemetery is between our home and the pool, we decided to stop by Caden's grave on our way home.  And let me just say, Sunset Gardens knows how to celebrate Memorial Day!
The sight was so breathtakingly beautiful the second we drove in, I burst into prideful tears.  My goodness, I am so proud to be an American!
Every 6' or so, a flag stood proudly, waving in the slight breeze, stark and stunning against the green of the grass and the blue of the sky.

And then I saw the sweetest sight: Someone left flowers for my Caden!!!  And even tied a cute ribbon on the vase.  My heart was pretty much a puddle at my feet.
I tried to capture a view of the flags from Caden's site.  It was amazing how many beautiful flags there were!

As we were walking back to our car, the kids noticed that the flag on the exact line as Caden's headstone had a name on it: R. E. Johnson JR.  They ALL have names on them, memorializing a fallen soldier.  Oh, my heart-- such beautiful meaning.

We didn't have a choice when it came to burying our son, but we did have a choice as to where.  We made the right choice, the best choice.
