I CANNOT believe how great last night was!! Like I said, he fell asleep at about 4:00PM yesterday, and he's been sleeping peacefully ever since. He still has not thrown up once from the Chemo. If it wasn't for that lame feeding tube, he would not have thrown up once since we've arrived! Can you believe it?! The last time we were here (for Chemo not malfunctioning thermometers) he was hooked up to more tubes, had oxygen going 24/7 for days, ICU nurses came to check on him every four hours, he had midnight chest x-rays because his breathing would dip too low and they were worried about his lungs. It was just such a mess! I was thinking that this time might even be more like that, but hoped it would be a bit better. I never would have dared to hope that it would be this good. Seriously, he's getting chemicals pumped through his heart to every portion of his body killing cells. Shouldn't that cause some serious outward effects as well? That was my thought before this amazing night. I'm not complaining at.all, I am just so shocked that it's going this well.
Caden is definitely succeeding in Round Two! Like we would expect anything else from this warrior! Day two begins.
-11:00AM Update-
Randy is having some annoying allergies that had him sniffing enough that I sent him to RMH to sleep. He finally made it back to the hospital this morning at 10:00. I switched off to get a shower, do some laundry, and clean our RMH room. As I was walking in from the parking garage, I was stopped by a group of young women on a tour. I know how those tours go and know that they start at the top and work their way down to the basement, so I knew this was the latter part of their tour. The thing that caught my eye was not their fresh, beautifully make-up applied faces, but their tear streaked, radiant faces. This place has a way of doing that. Not because it is a house of horror, but a house of giving. It truly is an amazing place, a place of dreams. And we get to stay here! These beautiful girls got to see the beauty and were overcome with joy. That is how I feel each time I enter. Joy!
At the end of each month they send out a letter to each family. They do not ask for money, just give you the 'option' to pay the amount that you have acrewed. I can't wait to go down later and pay our 'bill' in full. How blessed we are by McDonald's. I will never look at those Golden Arches the same again!
And neither will those girlies!
-5:30 PM Update-
Things are not as good tonight as they were this morning, but they are definitely still better than Round 1. He had a few hours of extreme nausea and simply wishing he could get out of the hospital. Time goes differently for him when he's sleeping so much, so it's hard for him to hear it's still Saturday and he has one more day of Chemo and two nights left to stay. He's done today and just wants to leave. I don't blame him really.
He's more gaunt tonight, which is hard to see. It's not horrible, per se, but it's not wonderful either. I'm lookin forward to Monday more and more!! This Chemo stuff is so lame!
I loved reading this story! Go Caden!
