A friend came to visit Mira today! She was SO excited. The squirrel may have questioned the idea as soon as it saw how enthused Mira was to say hi. It sprang to the top branches and chittered down to Mira loudly. Mira didn't see it as a taunt but as a communication between best friends forever.
The squirrel has never come back. I guess we need to work on our host skills...
