It has been so fun having Megan join us for Wedding Prep. We forgot to get a picture when we all went dress shopping, so we made sure to capture one when we went for the dress alteration appointment. Make sure to look at Keilie's face here, because she sure didn't walk out of the appointment this lucid...
We ended up having to wait nearly a half hour for our appointment. Once we were taken to the back, Keilie got into her dress and stood in front of three-way mirrors for a long time. Standing tall, making sure not to move, barely breathing, and being incredibly obedient. If you know me, you can probably guess what happened to my child, my mini-me, as she stood there trying to do exactly what she was asked to do. If you guessed "passed out," you're correct!!!
"Um... after you put that pin in, could I sit down for a minute?"
"I'm all done."
Slurred speech: "Really?"
{Swoon}
I swept in quickly, knowing exactly why she asked to sit down and caught her as she was going down. Megan jumped into gear helping me get cool air on her neck as the seamstress ran to get me a fan and some candy. Keilie ended up having a seizure, which I also get when I pass out, which scared Megan and the seamstress pretty good. I was calm and collected as I got more air to her clammy body, got candy in her cheek, and turned her to the side so she wouldn't choke, all the while assuring them that, no, an ambulance wasn't necessary. It took her a few minutes to come back to the land of the lucid, and even then, she was pretty out of it.
"What happened?"
"You passed out."
"I did?! I don't remember that!"
"That's what happens when you pass out!"
We Dirks (Burrell?) women love to give people a show, I tell you. I pass out going through the temple for the first time, and she passes out getting her dress altered-- we love our Wedding Drama with a capital D, it seems! Good times, good times.
Was she able to come home and sleep off the weird feelings that accompany a pass-out sesh? Nope, they had Dallin's family birthday dinner that they had to now rush to because of the late start time and the unexpected nap Keilie chose to take. Awesome!
