There has been some room changes made this weekend in our home. Shelby lost the privilege of sharing the office with the semi-new closet. Since Caden and Keilie had already had their turn having their "own" room (meaning not having to share with another human, just technology and New World Systems) we asked Brennon if he wanted his turn. He was so excited seeing me pull out our twin Sports sheets, and was often seen just sitting on his new bed, smiling. This was all well and good...until bed time.
Brennon and Tyson have shared not only a bedroom, but an actual bed since moving to Richland. They do not go to bed alone. Ever. If one is punished and sent to bed early, (the harshest punishment my kids can receive, in their opinion) they will wait up for the other to come to bed. They are just used to going to bed together. So, I wondered if Brennon would actually do it. Tyson started to cry the minute it hit him that Brennon wasn't in the same room. He was saying he would sleep on the floor, in the closet, or even in the office chair in Brennon's room. He was in quite the manic state. Randy stayed with Tyson while I went in to ask Brennon what he thought.
"Brennon, we are not going to make you give up your own room. But, Tyson is really sad that he doesn't get to sleep with his best friend anymore. Would you let him sleep in here tonight? We'll figure something out tomorrow, if you still want your own room."
Brennon readily agreed. Like 'jump out of his bed and ran to Tyson', agreed. Halfway to his old room, Brennon heard Randy tell Tyson that he could get his pillow and blanket. I got to see the cutest display of love from my B-boy. He pumped his arms in the air many times, jumping with excitement, "YES!"
"Tyson, Tyson, do you want to share a room? Come on, let's sleep in my room!!"
The joy on Tyson's face was clear. But the relief on Brennon's was just as much. The thought of having his own room was exciting for a while. But, in reality, he loves to be with Tyson as much as Tyson loves to be with him.
