While watching Ultimate Beastmaster on Netflix as a family this weekend, one of the contestants was talking about the struggles that made him into "the man he is today." His brother, with whom he did everything with as a child, competed against their whole lives, encouraged each other to do better and more as children, his best friend, died in Afghanistan a few years ago. "I lost my brother and my best friend on the same day." This man didn't all-out cry, but he did choke up and have to swallow and take a cleansing breath to continue talking. With a grave, serious face, Tyson looked at Brennon, "Brennon. Please don't go to war." What a special moment witnessed between close brothers, best friend brothers.
There's something so fun about watching nations come together to "best the beast." It's American Ninja Warrior for the world. We're on our second season, and loving it just as much as we did the first. Sometimes we're all cheering for the same person, sometimes we have our own favorites, always we're excited to watch someone go further than all others. We cheer, we jeer, we scream, we pace, we laugh, we look forward to celebrating sportsmanship. It is just fun!
It's interesting to me how many have had challenges in their lives that "make them into the people they are today." Currently, we have a man that had leukemia as a 7-year old boy, a man that was diagnosed with MS a few years ago, and another that was a world-winning rock climber that suddenly went deaf in one ear, was told he would never be able to climb again, and overcame it all to become a favorite of the competition. There is just so much to like about this show that we look forward to watching together. I love my family.
I need to look this show up! I’m intrigued.
